Al Tucci Commissioned Art Paintings
The Dorothy Painting
“A very dear friend asked me to do a painting about her life and family. She had a close appearance to
Judy Garland when she was young; and she just adored “The Wizard of OZ” so off we went on a great
adventure. She provided me with a full-page single space list of what she wanted in the painting some
were family members, some were images. I had a ball doing this painting that took almost two years to
complete, given interruptions to create other pieces for gallery shows. It is very magical piece and there
is a great deal to discover. I like it when a year or two later a client calls and tells me about something
just discovered in the painting!”
“I’ve known Al Tucci and his Art since the 1970s, first as a Costume Designer and now as a solo artist. Simply put, Al’s imagination knows no limit, and being able to view the 10 pieces of his Art we currently have in our home affords us the opportunity to go on a delightful Magical Journey with him every day! The real magic of his Art is that no matter how many times you have visually taken in his work, you always see something new every time you look at it! Each viewing becomes a new experience to observe his humor, creativity, and his artistry. One of our pieces is a unique personal commission Al did for me, and it became the story of my life told through Al’s symbolism with his animals and his chosen settings and objects. Everything in his work bears a specific meaning. It is never simply “art for art’s sake”. I believe the test of great art is its endurance to provide lasting pleasure and meaning to the viewer. Al Tucci’s Art masterfully passes that test!”

In The Sea
An Al Tucci commissioned art work that is now family heirloom piece. A couple that Al knew asked him to do this painting full of their combined life experiences and memories.
“This commission was based on a painting I wanted to do that had pirates and silly undersea scenes and creatures. I knew a couple who had purchased one of my paintings and they had asked if I ever did a navy or ship piece they would be interested. I presented my rough idea and they presented me with life stories from years of being in the navy and being in the first airborne. The review of yearbooks from the services and stories they told transformed my original idea to truly theirs. It was a labor of pure joy and research that took nearly a year to complete (interruptions for other paintings). I loved the movement, story and color and so did they.”
“We are very pleased with our fantastic painting by Al Tucci. We just love it!”

The Move
I was contacted by a wonderful woman living in Canada who wanted a special piece for her family. I spend a good amount of time asking questions and finding out about the people who will live in the painting. It started out about a piece about a new home and ended up with the new home only a small part of the story and it was placed on as easel in the painting surrounded about memories and future hopes. No history of pets turned into Canadian geese in a park near their home and children’s toys brought great sentiment. It was a joy to do, and it was done on a tight deadline. It was really filled with joy.
“It was a delight working with Al on a commission for my son and daughter-n-law’s first home. He was very engaged, detailed, and full of creative energy for the project. Al wove a witty story, immersed it in vibrant color with whimsical objects from their past. They love the theatrical detail.”

“I’ve long lusted after Al’s art. I have one original and two giclee prints in my home. I’m an avid bird photographer and have many images of Harris Hawks. I asked Al Tucci to use some Harris Hawk images in a new painting. As he worked on the painting he shared the progress of the painting and I knew that I had to have it! Every day I enjoy watching the painting as it changes with the light as it shines on the gold, and copper metallic paint. What a joy it is to behold.”
